Banana Pineapple Pancakes

This were somewhat of an experiment, but they turned out really well. I was inspired by two things. One) my cousin posted on facebook that he made banana cinnamon pancakes. Two) Years ago I had peanut butter pineapple pancakes at this first day of a summer job. I didn't have cinnamon in my house and I can no longer eat peanut butter... so the banana pineapple pancakes were born!

I just used regular pancake mix from a box, you know "add water. make pancakes". But I also added an egg and some vanilla. Then add the bananas and pineapples after pouring the mix in the skillet. These were delicious!

Now I gotta run and join my husband on his lunch break. :)

My husband bought a hat...

A fedora trilby actually and he looks incredibly dapper in it.

Picture from my cell phone.

After he bought the hat we went home and got all dressed up (sorry I don't have a pic of my outfit) and went out to eat.

Just before leaving.

Our intention was to have dessert but everything on the menu had either nuts or chocolate in it, neither of which I can eat unless I want to suffer a migraine. So we ordered a full size meal (at Bucca di Beppos that means enough to feed three people) ate some and saved the rest for a later dinner.

He wore his gray vest and his gray suit pants. Why don't men dress like this more regularly!?

And then... just so we could get $10 off our order I simply had to have a sangria. And Bucca di Beppos makes excellent sangrias (psst... they have brandy in them and they are soaked in fruit overnight).

After we ate we stopped by a local hotel and picked up a bunch of brochures for ideas on local things to do. You should do try this even if you aren't new to an area! You may discover somethings fun or interesting you never knew about.

A spontaneous night out with my husband, both of us dressed up, was incredibly delightful.

Oh oh oh! And I almost forgot! We used a coupon on the hat too! Yup, $10 off at Kohls. That hat cost us $7 (originally $24) and it was totally worth it.

Couponing

The first week ManDan and I were down here (Texas... we moved from Michigan) we saw these two ladies while grocery shopping that had these binders FULL of coupons. So, I stopped and asked them about their binders and how they get their coupons. They were really friendly and gave me some tips on getting started.

Now, I have a little binder of my own and I look forward to picking up a paper every Sunday to see what new coupons I can get.

This is what I got one of the very first times I used coupons:

Two spray air fresheners, two candles and one set and refresh for a grand total of $4.

I ended up throwing away the set and refresh because I didn't like how it smelled, but that is totally ok because one of those candles alone is regularly $6. I had a coupon for every item I bought and Target had a special going on where you buy five items and get a $5 gift card.

That is one the tricks I learned about couponing. You gotta use your coupons when the items are on sale to get the best deal. Simple, but it is worth saying.

I haven't burned the candles yet because it has been a little too hot down here to have my house smell like fall, but I am really looking forward to the autumn scent filling up our home. I think that will be soon now since the highs are only on the 90s now and I even saw some days next week where the highs were only in the 80s!

ManDan and I went out to eat last night and we used a coupon. That post will be next.
